‘Tis the Season of Giving Thanks

As we come upon one of my favorite holidays, Thanksgiving, it always helps me reflect on how much I have to be thankful for.

I am certainly blessed more than I deserve. I also occasionally hear, “I’m just not in a thankful mood.” Of course, we can all relate to the bad days, the tragedies in life, loss of loved ones, sickness and the fact that life is not always rosy. Yet, there’s always something to be thankful for. Always!

It’s our hearts of gratitude and the discipline (yes, I believe this) to express our thanks that helps us push through the bad days and the blah feelings. Our feelings will follow our actions and if we express our gratitude, we will begin to feel grateful and have more peace in our lives.

Having a bad day? Try it. Express your gratitude to God or someone and feel your energy go up. We just feel better when we are thankful. In fact, being thankful is one of the cornerstones to living a complete and fulfilling life.

I’m thankful for the opportunity to serve and achieve. I’m thankful we have a loving and forgiving God. I’m thankful for Mom, Pop Joe, CeCe, the kids and grandkids. I am excited to spend time with Mike, Mitzi, the extended family, inlaws and outlaws (we all have some) and certainly with friends. I am looking forward and anticipating the excitement of hunting camp with a roaring fire and too much to eat. Just being in nature, listening and seeing all of God’s creation is a time of gratitude for me. So much so, I keep Christmas lights on our cabin porch year-round so I can turn them on every time we have the pleasure to go. I never want to take any of my blessings for granted.

I’m thankful for HORNE — a firm where we are building the #WiseFirm culture together. A firm where team members share their sense of belonging and feel safe to stretch for their full potential. I’m grateful to be part of a team where service is our WHY and we are committed to our purpose, Deliver with Care.

May God bless you and your family, and our wonderful country. I pray that you have a safe, fun, joyful, healthy (and filling) Thanksgiving week. Express your gratitude and be amazed at what an attitude of gratitude will do for your perspective. Be thankful!
