Provider-Based Advantage? Think Again!

Hospitals all over the country have explored strategies around alignment of outpatient services to create a more integrated approach with provider-based hospital departments. This arrangement is not only more cost effective, but also allows the provider to obtain higher reimbursement from Medicare under the Outpatient Prospective Payment System (OPPS) rather than the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
